This work examines how race in Dungeons & Dragons is rooted in more than 2,000 years of history, from ancient Greek depictions of “monstrous races” through modern race theory. It examines how orcs and drow reflect real-world racial bias, presents interviews with BIPOC D&D players, and considers recent efforts to make D&D more inclusive.
